CapSpecialty®, a fast-paced, growing Insurance Carrier seeks an experienced, customer-focused Digital System Owner for its Information Technology Department. The System Owner bears full accountability for the systems they are responsible for throughout the lifecycle of a system.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Owns development and maintenance of the Underwriting Workbench application, electronic email interfacing system (MxHero), Box and ECM (Enterprise Content Management) for which they are responsible. Responsible for the overall procurement, development, integration, modification, operations and maintenance and retirement of the systems.       
  • With team, resolves help desk tickets related to the system they own as well as production support for the system subject to a service level agreement if established.  Team of developers will work with pooled Business Analysts as appropriate to triage work/tickets, but System Owner bears the ultimate responsibility for the system and how it connects with the technology ecosystem most optimally.      
  • Own the responsibility to ensure proper licensing and upgrades coordinating with the vendor. Resources responsible for maintaining the system work for the system owner on a solid line basis supported by other resources that may be part of a virtual team (e.g. architect, BA).
  • Key contributor in developing system design specifications to ensure operational needs are documented, tested, and implemented.        
  • Considers the systems future and how it aligns with the overall business goals of the firm.
  • Management and leadership of team members in area of responsibility. Recruit, hire, develop, train, and manage the performance of staff in both the technical duties and professional aspects of their performance.

 

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience. 
  • 5+ years of systems development management experience with increasing levels of responsibility. 
  • Proven experience in implementing systems in area(s) of responsibility (i.e. document management/imaging, financial systems).
  • Demonstrable experience in business process re-engineering, efficiency improvement and cost reduction projects. 
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex systems projects.

 

 

 

Essential skills/aptitude:

  • Strong managerial skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong knowledge of data processing concepts, particularly in insurance and financial systems. 
  • Extensive knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle and Project Management methodologies. 
  • Proven skills in processes improvement and change management.  Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities along with the ability to deal effectively with change. 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and team building skills. Able to convey information effectively, responsibly and with accountability.  
  • Resourceful at assembling information needed to make decisions. Solid understanding of business processes and how stakeholders use, manage, and analyze information from the system s/he owns.
  • Technical skills required in Angular or Java/Java Script, AWS hosting & DevOps, Azure DevOps, and Python.  
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, work independently, excellent follow-up skills.
  • Strong presence, interpersonal skills, and ability to establish and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization. Work collaboratively to be known as the go-to person for his/her system(s).
