Senior Claims Specialist – Property Damage/Construction/Environmental

CapSpecialty seeks a dynamic, versatile claims professional to add to its experienced, team-oriented staff. This individual will be Responsible for the overall accurate, prompt and efficient achievement of technical outcomes on both litigated and non-litigated claims involving third party property damage, contractors' liability, environmental liability including contractors' pollution liability and construction defect files of varying degrees of complexity.  The Senior Claims Specialist will provide superior service to all customers, internal and external, as well as engage in collaborative projects in support of other areas of the Company, to include underwriting, finance, actuarial, operations and technology.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years claims handling experience required. 
  • J.D. and/or advanced industry certification(s) (e.g., RPLU, CPCU, AIC) strongly preferred. 
  • Current Adjuster License or may require completing adjuster licensing and continuing education as per various States' regulations.

  • Advanced technical knowledge of insurance coverage and policies, insurance law, construction and environmental law, and claims handling practices. 
  • Highly refined skills in communicating, negotiating, organizing, analyzing, problem solving, and decision-making. 
  • Resiliency and ability to operate under pressure in high complexity, high risk situations; and to respond rapidly to changing work conditions and expectations. 
  • Ability to use basic software programs and technical applications.
  • Demonstrated skills in mentoring, training and facilitating.
